šŸŽƒ Spooky Season Sustainability: Recycling After Halloween

As the ghosts and goblins fade away and the candy buckets empty, it’s time to think about cleaning up in a way that’s good for our planet! At Western Resources Group, we love seeing our community celebrate—and we want to help make sure all that Halloween fun doesn’t end up in the landfill.

Here are a few easy ways to handle your post-Halloween clean-up sustainably:

šŸ¬ Candy Wrappers

All those shiny candy wrappers can add up fast—and most of them can’t go in your regular recycling bin. But don’t toss them in the trash! HeftyĀ® ReNew orange bags are the perfect place for your candy wrappers. Just make sure they’re empty, and place them in your HeftyĀ® ReNew bag along with other accepted plastics.

šŸ‘» Worn-Out Plastic Decorations

If your plastic pumpkins, skeletons, or other decorations have seen their last spooky season, check to see if they can be recycled. Clean, rigid plastics can go in with your other plastics, while anything with lights, cords, or electronic partsshould be placed in the E-Waste bin, not with regular recyclables.

šŸŽƒ Pumpkins and Gourds

Don’t throw your pumpkins and gourds in the trash! They can be composted to create rich soil or donated to local livestock owners. Just make sure they’re not painted, treated, or moldy before donating or composting.

šŸ’” String Lights

If your Halloween lights no longer work, you can recycle them in our Christmas light bin at WRG. Before recycling, please remove all batteries, as batteries require special handling and must be placed in the battery collection bins.

ā™»ļø Keep the Good Going

A few mindful choices can make a big difference for our environment. This Halloween, let’s keep the spooky spirit alive—but keep waste out of the landfill. Together, we can make sure every season is a little greener!
