♻️ America Recycles Day – November 15th
Every year on November 15th, we celebrate America Recycles Day, a national initiative dedicated to promoting and inspiring recycling across the country. It’s the perfect time to take a closer look at our recycling habits and see how we can all make a bigger impact in keeping valuable materials out of the landfill.
At Western Resources Group, recycling isn’t just a one-day event—it’s something we work toward every single day. But America Recycles Day gives us a great opportunity to remind everyone why recycling matters and how each of us plays a role in creating a cleaner, more sustainable Nebraska.
Why Recycling Matters
When we recycle correctly, we save energy, conserve natural resources, and reduce pollution. Materials like cardboard, plastics, glass, metals, and paper can be turned into new products instead of sitting in a landfill for decades. Every clean, properly sorted item helps ensure that materials can be reused efficiently.
What You Can Do
✅ Know What to Recycle – Take a few minutes to review your recycling guidelines. Make sure items are clean, dry, and free of food residue.
✅ Avoid Contamination – Food waste, liquids, and non-recyclable materials can ruin an entire load of recyclables.
✅ Think Beyond the Bin – Did you know WRG accepts items like plastics through the Hefty® ReNew program, glass for recycling, and cardboard? Check our current list to see what we take.
✅ Spread the Word – Talk to your family, coworkers, and friends about why recycling correctly matters.
Small Actions, Big Impact
When communities recycle together, those small, everyday choices add up to something much bigger. This America Recycles Day, take a moment to recommit to recycling right, reducing waste, and reusing whenever possible.
Together, we can make a difference—one item, one bin, and one community at a time.
